Mr. Adam Karnet, Manager of Czech Republic's Men's National team did the following interview on preparation of the team with regards to upcoming 2013 ISBHF World Championships in St. John´s, Canada.
Czech Republic about their preparation for ISBHF World Championships in St. John´s:
- 1. At what stage of preparation is your team with regards to next year’s the world championships in St. John’s?
Right now, we are about to get ready for final part of our preparation. There are few training camps behind us – both fitness and game oriented. The peak of our preparation should be a three game clash with Slovakia between January and March 2013.
- 2. How will the preparation continue in the next months?
As said before – we’re looking forward to friendly games with Slovakia. Besides these matches we want at least two strictly training camps. The world championship starts sooner this year and there won’t be any proper time to organize camps after the end of our league season, so we can’t get as much events as we may want. But - of course - the WC starts on the same day for everyone, so those are just facts, not excuses. I believe we’ll be ready.
- 3. Can you already tell the names of some players of your team?
I can say we have narrowed our selection to approximately forty players. And I’m absolutely certain every one of them knows, that no player will travel to St. John’s just because of his name or previous appearances. Players still have time to show their current abilities and possible benefits for Czech national team. Names will be important in the day of our first match in the tournament. We don’t want to speculate about them now.
- 4. What are the expectations you have for St. John's?
I expect great tournament from every possible angle. I hope people in St. John’s will be happy and excited for the event. And I expect teams from all over the world to show spectators best ballhockey that can be played in 2013.
- 5. Who will become world champion 2013, and why?
I simply can’t go with another option than Czech Republic. We can’t think about anything less or settle with other outcome than gold medals. And there is no conceit in this. We know that the competition there will be enormous – Canada as a host, Slovakia, United States and others they are all great teams with high quality players and we respect every rival we’re going to challenge in WC. But if we want to win a third title in a row, our goal must be clear and simple – we want to beat everyone and bring home gold. Only time will tell if we succeed or not.
